I had to perform a system restore on my aspire 5610 and used the set of DVDs created by the backup tool. Everything went fine, but now during every boot the acer launch tool is stuck at the "install erecovery solution" (process 1/2 now), I've left it running for over 72 hrs and still nothing. The HDD light isnt even showing activity.

I went to the PanAm driver/app download and couldnt find erecovery to d/l manually. Any help is much appreciated!

The tech support people at Acer apparently know about this, but aren't saying much.

I had the same problem. Restore from PQSERVICE, hung at eRecovery. Restore from media, same thing: hung at eRecovery. Very odd.

Support had me boot to safe mode, run MSCONFIG, then disable all. Then they wanted me to run restore again.

I was dubious, because this should be a sector-by-sector image restore. How could there be anything left on the drive that could possible affect the restore? Why would this work? Why was restore broken? No real answers from them.

So I went one step further. I decided that since I had restore media, I no longer needed the PQSERVICE partition. So I blew out both partitions. You probably won't want to do this. See the update below!

I then ran the restore from the restore media. Everything went fine. Except for one small problem- eRecovery is now nowhere to be found. And I'd like to have it, since Windows Home Premium doesn't come with the Business version image backup software.

If I were you, I would try booting to safe mode, disabling all startup programs, and then running your restore. If that fails, I would then blow out the Windows partition (NOT the PQSERVICE partition!) and try a restore that way.

BTW, Acer's web sites are terribly confusing about eRecovery when it comes to Vista. From what I can gather, this might be a model-specific piece of software (What?? Why?).

Can anyone point me to a downloadable version of eRecovery for Vista/5610 series?

    Thanks,

    -Pink

UPDATE: Acer says that eRecovery is part and parcel of the PQSERVICE partition. If you blow out that partition, there will be no eRecovery function, and it cannot be restored (unless you send the drive in to be reimaged.).

This makes absolutely no sense whatsoever. The function I want is to be able to make a bootable backup snapshot of the system once all apps, updates and everything else are as I want them. It looks like I'll be looking for another solution to do this for me.

Any suggestions of apps ya'll like?

Had the same problem and found the fix for my machine. My Acer came with a unlettered, unnamed partition (presumably for restoring), a C drive and a D drive (60gig). Didn't want the D, so I zapped it in vistas disk manager and did a restore. Vista reloaded but the machine would hang when it attempted to reload the Acer software. Mine would hang in the eRecovery module, the 8th of 10 modules.

I recreated a 10g D drive, called it "DATA" (its original name) and did the restore. Worked fine and everything loaded. It seems that the Acer utility software looks for information on the D drive during the install process. Hope that helps.

    Hello People,

I'm new to such forum and I hope all the feedback that I receive can help me resolve my issue. Ok, my g/f has a Acer Aspire 5520-5290 laptop and she eventually did an error by erasing some files in the registry. So, since the laptop didn't come with any recovery cds, I went to the bios and verified that the recovery option was embedded. I then ran D2D recovery and it performed the usual, formatted the HD, reinstalled Vista HE, and loaded successfully. Everything was going well until the Acer Launch installs some programs. At 15/16 Install eRecovery solution, it gets stuck and left the computer running for at least 12 hours. :( The only way to use the laptop is to disable all acer launches in msconfig. It works like new when disabled, but I don't want to disable the launches. Also, when the acer launch programs are enabled, I can see a secondary partition (PQService) of 10Gb, but when disabled, I can't see it no more. How can I go about installing the eRecovery solution? Anyone, please respond.

    Hello People

    same problems

The recovery programs give error: can't find c:\d2d\ things and so on...

solution: use a bootable cd with partition manager tool

i used "FreeFDisk" on Ultimate Boot CD

Using Ultimate boot cd do not enable long file names and ntfs support !!!!

using the FreeFDsik partition tool, delete the C: and D: partition,

reboot and return to FreeFDisk to make

    1) a Primary Partition C (50% of free disk size)
    2) an Extended Partition (all the free space)
    3) and make a logic unit (Will be letter D :) using 100% of the ext. partition

reboot and use a Master Boot Record manager tool like
"MBRWork" on Ultimate Boot CD do this things

you will see now 4 partitions (I hope ^_^)

    00 - PQSERVICE (about 10 GB) - FileSystem Unknown
    01 - C: (about 75GB)
    02 - D: (about 65 GB)
    03 - ACER_SERVICE (about 500Mb) *

NB: don't care if you can't find the 03 partition that's only what i have in my acer, if you find it do not delete it !!!

    a) select the option to create a standard master boot record
    b) select to edit a partition data,
    c) select the partition 0 and type enter until it ask for the "file System type" d) input "7" (7 is for NTFS) and go on typing enter until the end,
    e) answer yes to save the partition informations
    f) select the option to activate a partition
    g) select the partition 0, the "A" letter will change to 00 partition

quit the Boot Manager Tool and restart

after reboot the recovery will be start without any problems

after the recovery of the "C:" partition the recovery will continue in windows
to install the acer software and the eRecovery window mask all the windows so, act as quick as possible and try to do this

    1*) go to My computer
2*) select the D: partition and try to format with "Quick format" option
3*) answer yes to all warnings that will appare
maybe the warnings popups will go under the eRecovery window so you will not able to see them because you can't change the position of the eRecovery window, so try to hit the spacebar (or enter) to answer yes to all warnings altought you can't see the popup!!!! at the end you'll WIN !!!!

4**) after you have formatted the D: partition drive change is name into "DATA" (same warnings popup problem of step 3)

i think steps marked with * may be not useful to success recovery
i think steps marked with ** may be not very useful to success recovery

but remember ! i've done all 4 steps and things were be very OK

I completely recovered my Acer Aspire 5720 in less than 1 hour.

    enjoy ;)
