I was browsing the web today and had a brainwave regarding the whole Acer blocking out people putting in more than 4GB of RAM in some cases (and no more than 6 in others). I found a store which sells BIOS chips for all sorts of models, including this one, and was wondering if anyone had any thoughts on whether changing out the BIOS chip would remove such blocks?

    Thanks

    Dan

My question is also regarding the RAM on my 6935G.

I wanted to upgrade from 4GB to 8GB (really need the extra memory) and after 2 days of searching and useless call to tech support of Acer, i came to no conclusion. Of all information i ran into, 50% said max memory is 4GB, other 50% says 8GB (some of them said 8GB if i had 64 bit OS, which i have).

So i just wanted to know if anyone here has succesfuly upgraded their 6935G RAM, and if so if you had to tweak the BIOS, like the post above mentions.

I really wanted someone to say "yes, go ahead and upgrade" or "no, just forget it" cause this issue has been in my mind for quite some time...

thanks in advance for any reply

Its not the chip but the programming.

What I am saying is there is nothing you can do short of writing your own bios. Good luck with that.
