[ :D] I recently purchased the 4002WLMI-XPP Notebook and I would agree with the other posts that it is a very good notebook for its price ($1350 Cdn).

Here's the specs that it came with: (at least when bought in Toronto)

    Model 4002WLMI-XPP
    Series TravelMate 4000
    Processor & Memory
    CPU Intel Centrino Pentium 725-1.6GHz
    Standard Memory 512 MB
    Maximum Memory 2,048 MB/DDR333
    Bus Speed 400 MHz
    Video
Display Type 15.4" TFT 1280x800, 16 Million Colours (WXGA)
Video memory Intel Extreme Graphics 2
    Storage
Hard Drive 60 GB Ultra ATA/100
    Optical Drive DVD+/-RW Drive (burner-Pioneer)
    Integrated Devices
    Ethernet LAN Ports 10/100 Mbps
    USB Ports 3 USB x 2.0
    Firewire Ports 1 x IEEE1394
    S-Video Out 1 x S-Video
    Modem 56K V.92
PC Card / Bus 1 x Type ll
    Pointing Device Touchpad
    Operating System
Installed Operating System Win XP Pro

My intention was to use this to replace my current desktop (Daewoo with Athon 2500+, 40 Gig HD.....). I currently use my desktop for some web design, surfing, emails, and the Microsoft 2003 Office suite (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Project, Visio) and I've transferred all files to the laptop. Everything works perfectly so no complaints.

The other nice touch was the built in wireless network. Since I already have a Linksys router that connects 4 desktops, I purchased the Dlink DI-624 Extreme G router to hook up the laptop to my existing network. No problems whatsoever, and it took about 10 minutes to configure.

My only minor "improvements" would be to have built in Bluetooth (I have a USB Bluetooth dongle, so it's not that big a deal, but I was led to believe it came with BT). The touchpad is ok, but I prefer an external mouse and bought the targus usb digital mini-mouse. It's not the lightest notebook out there and commuting with it to work can be a pain, but I can live with this.

The screen is fine and watching DVD's on the widescreen is awesome. I currently get around 4.5 hours on a charge.

    Cheers

I bought mine for doing DJ work and It's a great machine. The problem I had was the output from the headphone jack , My most important interface, was real noisy . It crackled and popped. I had to put a noise gate on it. Then Internet explorer crashed a few times. I also didn't want the drive partitions. It showed only a total of 53 gigs.
So I tried to re-instale windows from the supplied disks. It was a mess of Acer Junkware,, phooey. So I used a copy of XP pro I had from another computer and installed it with no partitions. Well what a huge improvement in performance and the noise is gone now. Only thing I lifted from the 3 Acer Cd's was the Epower managment software. All else is running perfectly. I've now got 56 GIGs of Hard drive space.
The only other thing I'd like to fix is the touch pad is a little to sensitive.. Anyone no how to fix it?

i bought the same notebook the 21 of december i believe......
    i paid $1499 cdn....

i love the notbook so far. but the only think that annoyed me is that there is some noise coming out from the cpu. it's a high pitch noise and it can only be heard when the cpu is not processing anything and when it's dead silent. i wonder if it's normal.

i tried the dual extend display. it's cool to watch movies full screen on a secondary TV screen and work on the primary laptop screen

Thanks for the tip,, I instaled the driver for the touch pad.. It's actually pretty cool once you set it up. One finger can do all. The four corners can be asigned to any action and if you run your finger along the side it scrolls. I stopped using the mouse.
