I was wondering if anyone else was willing to review their TM8204. We have only one review on this website and it was done on a laptop w/ specifications different than most others offered. Although the first review was very informative, I was wondering if another was willing to share his opinion. Thanks :)

Mine is the same spec as the Singaporean one already reviewed, so no point in covering the same ground I suppose.

    EDIT:
Oops just noticed that's not true - mine has 120GB and 2GB, not 100GB/1GB as the Singapore model does. Still, my RAM is only 533MHz, not the 667MHz spec'd for North America, so I guess you'd still prefer to see a US machine reviewed..

The memory speed is the same on all models (533mhz) it has been changed by Acer on their website and claimed that it's an advertising error and not misleading specs.

That is correct. It was set for 667, but they didnt have stock on it, but forgot to change it on their site and the reseller sites. So there are many resellers out there that haven't updated their specs yet. Hopefully they do it soon. As for the difference in specs, there are "120gb HD/2gb RAM models" and "100gb HD/1gb RAM" models.

A question to the people who got theirs already: Where did you buy it from? And how long ago did you pre-order?

I bought it from PC Connection around 1/26 and got it 2/7 or so.

I just have one quick question, and seeing as this is the most recent 8204 thread (and therefore the most likely to be seen) I'll ask it here. Is the body/case of the 8204 made of carbon fibre, like the Asus Z70Va, or is it just the lid? None of the reviews I've seen really clarify this.

Just the lid, and even then not all of it - the lower 1.5" (closest to the hinge) is finished in high gloss black, as is the intgerated Wi-Fi antenna at the top of the lid (where the web cam is).

Carbon Fiber is on the lid, but the chassis is still quite sturdy.

Just the lid. The rest is plastic, but sturdy.

crap.. so they are all shipping with 533 RAM? I guess it's no big deal.. not like we can tell the diff. If Acer cant get 667, then it makes me wonder how the Apple ones can.. wah.
