I've been on the market for a new laptop for a few months now ever since the graphics card on my old laptop kicked the can and I was left staring at a blurry 800x600 resolution screen that was mirrored along the X axis and was incredibly squished. I had been holding off mainly waiting for the Sandy Bridge laptops and the next generation of the AMD/Nvidia to hit the market. Well it seems like they have. I had been considering the AS8950G for a while now, loving the looks and size but had been held back by a few issues. The 2nd hard drive bay not properly closing, the constantly dropping wireless issues, and the relatively slow nature of the Radeon 5850 mobility.

Now that the 8950G has been released, found it on sale at New Egg with a 1 star rating! (silly reasons to rate it that low I might add) I just wanted to know if those issues were solved? Does the US version of the 8950G come with properly sized second hard enclosure (that the Euro spec versions already had)? Is the wireless fixed? Is the 6850 a significant improvement over the 5850?

Keep in mind that I am coming from a GT 8800m with what was a 1440x900 resolution? Will I see any improvement in frame rates with the 6850 and the 1920x1080 screen?

Actually Newegg doesn't have it listed anymore probably because of the Sandy Bridge recall. So you'll have to wait until intel fixes the issue.
