I'm thinking of buying an Acer Aspire Portable 1356 AMD Athlon™ XP Processor 2800+ and have heard that there could be overheating problems with this cpu in a notebook. Has anyone had any experience with this notebook? Thanks

Most CPU's don't overheat unless the intake vents are blocked or the fan fails. Normally, the notebook will usually get pretty warm to hot. This is expected from most AMD & P4 CPU's. The Pentium M models will give you the coolest running units in the market. Also, the units that don't have the Pentium M CPU's also have a shorter battery runtime, since the CPU's require more power to operate and also to keep cool.

Just remind you that the model has Athlon mobile processor which is much "cooler" than desktop one and even a bit cooler than P4-M. So, it should not be a big problem. At least I have not seen any messages about overheating Athlon XP-M.
