I would recommend backing up your data and reinstalling a CLEAN installation of Windows. Wipe all the data off the drive. Never failed me.

You could spend a lot of time trying to clean out the machine and still not be sure that you were 100% successful.

idq000's advice is very sound and its what I would recommend as well.

If you do want to go down the 'cleaning it yourself' path then its a good idea to use more than one cleanup tool and run the cleanup several times in safe mode. Trend Micro provide a very thorough free online check and clean tool at www.trendmicro.com. There is also a utility called Hijackthis which can help when cleaning out nasties (think of it as a surgeon's knife - don't use it if you're not absolutely sure of what you're doing). Before you begin you *must* back up all of your data. Finally, there are forums which exist to help people clean up infected machines and some googling should help you find a relevant one (use Hijackthis as a search term).

    Good luck :)

That is exactly what Hitman Pro does, it will download and install trial editions of several antivirus and antispyware products and afterwards uninstall it.
