That's a good price for what you are getting, I'm suprised you even get an ATI integrated GPU, rather than the usual SIS rubbish Acer ship with their AMD laptops.

Just put a 1gb in there, you'll need it with the GPU taking system memory for itself. And Photoshop likes a lot of memory as well.

    Not a bad machine.
pros - nice performance for the money, good screen, dedicated video memory.
    Cons - 60gb(not serial ata)

Ops, urs is 1100 with no dedicated memory ;/ But still its a good one, considering that its vista capable

    You can't beat that price!!!

Just call them and make sure it's not refurbished. Even if it is, it still a great price.

No, this wont be refurbished, its a new model and is a similar price everywhere in the uk (online).

Initially i wanted a Dual Core but the cheapest is about £530 from Dell.

PS. with this Acer i should be able to play Counter Strike 1.6 correct?, It played fine on my Dell 630m (intergrated) and the ATI card on the Acer should be more powerfull then all other intergrated intel cards right?

    Thanks for your help.

I am happy with it, Im not using it for gaming but I tried Warctaf III and CS(both run perfect). If u are just a casual gamer then this laptop will perfectly satisfy you (u dont need a dual core to play games, however, more ram would be better on this laptop).
The design is 99% the same as 5102 without an integrated cam. I assume that the build quality is similar - good but not something exceptional. From personal experience I can confirm this and even say that its not worse than any inspirons or even many toshibas Ive seen. If you do not travel frequently, there is nothing to worry about.
The screen is definitely the best part in this laptop - clear images/colors and nice viewing angles!
Mine came with a dedicated video but this shouldnt worry you, since Xpress 1100 is capable of running Vista and still powerful enough for casual gaming. Just add more ram.
On the bad side, the hard disk is 60 gb only and it is not SATA, but its still 5400rpm instead of 4200rpm as in most of the 5102. This is not a big deal considering that the price is just c00l. Also, there are only 3 USBs.

But again...see the price (although the price for which I purchased mine wasnt that good)
    I'd say go for it.

Thanks mate, i added some rep to you :)

Oh another question, it may be a stretch though, do you think it would handle Counter Strike Source or half life 2?

Yup, it should play just fine with the default graphic settings.
