hi.. i not sure whether anyone experience this on your laptop.

this is how it is... after using for sometime(one is i locked my laptop, go out for few hours. the 2nd time is when i watching movies for around 15mins), the keyboard will somehow "off" or "disable", means u still can use the mouse, clicking everything n its fine, but the keyboard just cannot type anything.

i than decided to restart the laptop. but than after the os shut down, the laptop unable to restart. its just black screen. so i press the power button to off it. switch on, n it never boot up, not even bios appear. tried a few times unable to on.

i than plug out the power, which than able to boot up successfully on batt.

anyone have this problem? and solution to it? wonder what is the problem that causes this?

    thanks..

Create a DOS Bootdisk to flash the BIOS if it happens to be buggy BIOS.

You might need to update the BIOS just in case. The new one is 2.03, at least here in Europe.

i have already have a more updated bios version, v2.06 from acer service center. as few days ago i have gone to service center to have my heatsink changed because mine will auto turn off after playing game for around 15mins. so they also updated the bios.

but before i go service center, i already have experience this problem of keyboard "switch off" once. bios version is v2.03.

now i just want to know what causes the keyboard switched off...after using/idle for a period of time.

There is no reason why the keyboard would switch off since it uses Flat Ribbon PS/2 Port not USB.
I suggest installing the latest Intel Chipset Driver.
Can you also provide more information about the system?

i had the latest version of intel chipset driver(9.1.1.1014) when i had this problem. so now i had revert back to the driver(9.0.0.1008) from acer website. hopefully it doesnt give this problem. n this problem of keyboard turn off is just happen recently.

not sure whether is it hardware problem, as i start to have this problem when i just leave it installing windows 7 setup. the next morning when i wake up, the keyboard not able to key in anything. now the os i'm using is win xp.

here's the info about the system btw.

If you weren't under warranty I would have suggested opening it up check the connectors or try replacing it with another generic PS/2 keyboard.
