Please, share your experience with this model.

I think the main difference with the standard Timeline is the matte screen...

I do. 8371, the core2solo version. Short review: it's a really good laptop if you're looking for a mobile workstation with long battery life like me: i use it for work like typing in lectures and reading and doing university stuff in the train. Battery time is impressive and the non-glossy display it good for outdoor work.
It seems very robust - you wont scratch or damage it without putting some real force. Look is rather bussines-style: barely LEDs, which feels unusual but im not missing anything. All-in-all i like the design, and a very good webcam is to be pointed out.

However, there are downsides - besides the slow CPU (but it works very fine with my Ubuntu Karmic for all office and Eclipse works - i'm not missing anything here, as long as i wont play any 3D games. I think its faster then atom 1.6), the linux support is unexpectedly limited: by now, suspend to RAM doesnt work in linux - probably it's gonna be solved, but it can take time. Under ubuntu there is also an issue with the internal mic. And i wouldn't expect the fingerprint reader to ever be supported under linux, unleast someone would take time to write the drivers - and there are no volunteers yet.
Ah, and the display is not stable to view angles: at least at small brightness, even small move of the head leads to one corner appearing to be darker then the other. Not as bad for office works, but a downside for viewing movies - it is not that worse on high brightness however.

All-in-All a very impessive laptop I can recommend and once the suspend and internal mic on linux issues are fixed, i will probably fall in love with it completely :)

PS The preinstalled Linpus-Linux you can forget. Its not a full OS but a command-prompt only.

i have the 8371 with a SU9400 dual core. i agree w maverick about most, except that with this processor its very fast. I also have ATI radeon 4330 512mb graphics installed. mine came installed with vista. its a powerhouse at only 1,6 kg. no dvd drive, which i like.

I got the pc 2 days ago, so not fully tested it with games etc. But its been flawless on all tasks so far. not very hot either, due to special material in the casing.

Lets say this way: i've got an Aspire laptop with a glossy display, and even in rooms where the light is behind me working on it is really hard.

In rooms i barely see reflections on 8371, even , I didnt try out in the sunlight yet (not much sunlight in germany right now :D ), but I expect it to be well on high brightness setting.

Anyone else who could share experience with these machines? I am trying to buy a 8471. I am particularly interested in heat issues (noise issues), how does the keyboard feel when typing and generally how sturdy the machine appears?
    hope someone will respond.
