Intel's website says that the GS4500 chipset supports up to 8GB of RAM.

Don't the 1410 and 1810 use that chipset?
Has anyone tried running 8GB of RAM in these units?

Technically imposible. You would need another 2 slots.DDR2 goes as far as 2x2=4gb. While the chipset supports it,the notebook doesn't.

There're 4GB single stick ddr2 modules available and 8GB RAM shouldn't be a problem for 1410/1810 -- except the price.
edit:
find a review about MSI U200, with 8GB RAM installed

There are NO DDR2 4gb 200pin memory modules. What you are talking about is 240pin modules that are larger in size and don't fit into this notebook. It is tecnically NOT feasible to install more than 4gb of memory in this notebook(and on a side note why on earth would someone want 8gb on this notebook. What would improve???)

I got the 1810T because it has Intel's VT extension in the SU7300. Helps when running VMWare even though it's not needed anymore.
The 8GB of RAM is useful to me when running multiple VMs.
Yes there are such things as 4GB 200-pin SO-DIMM modules.
Anyone try installing 8GB of RAM in an 1810 or 1410?
