    Anyone try installing 8GB of RAM in an 1810 or 1410?

    Technically imposible.You would need another 2 slots.DDR2 goes as far as 2x2=4gb. While the chipset supports it,the notebook doesn't.

    There are 4GB DDR2 sodimms. My brother has two in his Gateway laptop.

    There are NO DDR2 4gb 200pin memory modules.What you are talking about is 240pin modules that are larger in size and don't fit into this notebook.It is tecnically NOT feasible to install more than 4gb of memory in this notebook(and on a side note why on earth would someone want 8gb on this notebook.What would improve???)

    That's right, you only need 8GB RAM for really heavy stuff like big files in Photoshop, Audition or Premiere Pro. For the casual user 4GB is enough!

    I got the 1810T because it has Intel's VT extension in the SU7300. Helps when running VMWare even though it's not needed anymore.

    The 8GB of RAM is useful to me when running multiple VMs.

    Yes there are such things as 4GB 200-pin SO-DIMM modules.
