    Hello,

Anyone who has or have experience with a 16" FULL HD 1920x1080 (WUXGA) acer laptop (any model) can tell me if it looks good or it's too much resolution for 16".

I have a 6930G and I'm considering upgrading the screen. I really need the extra vertical space.

Some people say that it's too much and fonts would be too small, etc.

On the other hand acer as released a few models with this screen size / resolution.

Please let me know your opinion.

    Thank you.

Well, you will have higher resolution and clearer pictures with FULL HD 1920x1020.
Basically, the GPU will support this resolution.
However, when come to gaming(high-end games such as GRID, GTA4, DMC 4), you can't use 1920x1080. Unless you want to have nightmare FPS.
Personally, I am against it. But I won't force you, just my little opinion.

    my acer 6935g is wuxga.

fonts is too small but you can adjust the dpi in control panel to make the fonts larger.

after using wuxga for months ill never go back to wxga.

I am also interested in the Full HD screen as I need more space for my work but the price is way over my budget. I found one at £199. When they go down to £100, I will seriously consider it. I don't care much about the gaming performance as you can always play lower regarding the resolution.
How much do you think, nosphere, you are going to spend?

I just found this link but I am not quite sure if it is really Full HD as it doesn't give you more info. It costs £98

The parts you should look for are LK.16006.002 and LK.16006.04. I'm not sure which one is the best.

It's $189 here: http://www.screencountry.com/index.php?section=products&model=ASPIRE%206930G&brand=Acer&size=, but it isn't none of the parts that I mentioned. I will have to check the part number with them.

    Plus shipping, of course.

Can you post a 1920x1080 screen shot somewhere ? That would be awsome for me to see how the fonts look like.

I'm mainly using it for working (programming).

    Thank you.

Of course! It just may not look as good as if it was native resolution.

it is also possible using nvidias display settings to set games to run without stretching. this will give you better quality, but the trade off is you lose physical picture size.

so if you played a 1366x768 resolution game, it would take up approx. 71% of your screen (the remaining 29% would be black), but there would be no loss in graphics quality

it would look something like this

Don't suppose you could show what it looks like with stretching?

it'll vary, some games will handle stretching better than others... although i'm not sure about going from 1366x768 to 1920x1080, that's kind of a big jump

to get an idea what stretching looks like, you could just run a game on the system you're using now, using a lower-than-native resolution (try to keep the aspect ratio right though)

Cheers mate, I'm a little conflicted, I love the look of the Acer 8935G but for travelling it is a little big! That said spec wise it looks amazing and the screen is also great.
Been looking at the 6930 for a while and I like the look of the 6935 with the 9600 GT card but I'm not sure if a Full HD screen is worth it if the laptop can play games at that res.
