well i have decided to replace the stock thermal paste on my 5920g, however, i was suprised to see that acer used therma pads intead of thermal paste

im even more suprised to see that there are thermal pads all over my gpu and cpu

heres a rough picture of how it looks like
    [IMG]
silver color denotes where thermal pads where installed

the weird thing is that the copper plate of the heat sink only touches the parts of the picture with the orange circle

should i put AC MX-2 on the areas where i found thermal pads or just on the areas where the copper plates of the heat sink touches the core

As far as I know you're not supposed to apply thermal paste on a thermal pad using CPU/GPU.

    nevermind got it to work

idle temps of GPU 55 degrees, load at 85 playing CoD4, 88 with Fallout 3
idle CPU at 40 degrees load at 75

I think what he meant is you are not supposed to put thermal paste on the thermal pads, remove the pads and add paste.

    What were your initial temperatures?

gpu used to idle at 60, reaches 92 when playing fallout 3

cpu used to idle at 47, never checked the temps when it was at load

    Exactly.
You can lower your temps even more if you undervolt the CPU, check the undervolting guide.
