My acer aspire 7745g is a great machine but it has always had this problem. It will randomly freeze(audio and video) and my cpu usage will be at 100% (witnessed). This is really annoying because I know whats doing it and i just cant find the option in the BIOS or anywhere on the computer to fix it. Ive read on multiple forums that other people experiencing this have fixed it by changing something in the BIOS. The problem that I'm experiencing seems to be the computer trying to save power/energy and trying to keep the cpu temp down. it will not send a lot of power to the cpu but when it needs it the cpu will spike to 100% for a few seconds while it sends more power. Ive read that the option for fixing this is called cool n' quiet on other pc's. if you know how to fix this plz help me![]()

I believe you have to change the power options in Windows.
Hard Drive: never turn off
CPU: Active Cooling -
I just put the HD to never turn off, the cpu already had active cooling on but ill let you know if it keeps doing it, ty for the help
*Edit*
Sorry to say but it didnt stop the problem, it may have made it less frequent but not stop all together, thanks for making it less frequent though big help -
The random freeze could also be the hard drive. My 7535 had similar problem and it turned out to be the slow 5400rpm hard drive. I have upgraded to WD Black 7200rpm and it happens far less frequent. I would assume SSD would be even better.
