I know pretty much nothing about the Acer brand. I have a pretty low budget for a new laptop around $299-$399 so I thought a netbook would be my best choice, but than I seen a Acer on bestbuy which has a nice size screen at 15.6" a bigger Hard drive than most netbooks as well as RAM with 2GB.

So this Acer seems like the best option for me. But I'm just not familiar with this brand and how reliable their hardware and customer support is.

    Acer Tech Support : Sucks
    Hardware is normal
    Price is cheap
Firmware sucks so you will have to update consistently until they stop issuing updates.
Driver offered is out of date so you have to source somewhere else.

My Aspire One 10" (Model D250) killed itself when I changed a stock setting in the stock BIOS.

    YMMV

I have an Acer ferrari and an Aspire One. Both have served me well. I sold the Aspire one just because it was too slow for me.

    Other than that, no issues.

I've had 5 Acer laptops over the years, I've never had any problems until now when I bought an 8930G.

Technical support is joke, the call centre is in India and the repair centre is in Plymouth, really can't see the sense in that.

They cannot follow simple instructions, mine has been away for repair and returned faulty and has now been sent back again.

I've bought my last Acer I'm afraid after their recent changes, although I'm relatively happy with 8930G and my Aspire One netbook I'll be changing them in a few years.

My Aspire 5684 is still going like new after 3+ years of hard work.

Can't comment on Acer service/support though as I have not needed them yet.

I have an Acer Aspire5610z, upgraded to 2GB memory and 250GB HDD. It's still going strong after 2.5yrs(when I bought it I didn't know about Acer), I like it and keep it as long as I can.
