    Good day

i have already re seat my heatsink and replace the stock TIM with a better thermal paste which is the OCZ Freeze.

now i cant seem to remember and i also forgot to record thru OCCT the idle temps of the cpu at stock 1.2ghz clock.

i am wondering if it is normal if my idle temp now after my replacement of the stock TIM and reseating are ranging from 39 celsius up to 45 celsius while its load/slight apps would get these temps to 50 celsius going up to 54 celsius.

any info would be great. thanks

Seems quite all right. Mine is actually quite a bit higher but I have replaced the CPU.
The thermal shutdown threshold is at 90 degrees C ;-)

My temps are about the same too although there is a 7 deg diff between the 2 cores?! Also out of interest which cpu you fitted? I just fitted a TK-42 and am having problems getting it to run above 1.2ghz without using rmclock and when i do it crashes?!

Each core has its own very cheap temperature sensor reporting a guess of how close it is to a specified maximum. The program you use to report temperature is taking that guess, subtracting it from it's idea of the maximum core temperature allowed and presenting it to you as digital fact.

5c differences are quite normal although it has been observed that the gap may narrow as the temperature rises towards the maximum allowed.

Max temperatures these days are 90 to 100c so it is not thermal shutdown causing your problems . . plenty of other possibilities left :)

I use "AA1 fan control" to control the fan on FO200. I may choose any value of the temperature for the fan to start from 50 to 85; my question: is there a risc of frying the CPU or damage the plastic case around it if I rise the temperature above 80? The fact is sometimes I like to browse the net at night and I don't want to disrupt my roommate sleep with the fan - usually the CPU stays around 70 degrees, the case becomes hot and I just want to be sure nothing wrong is going to happen to my precious machine.
