Anyone read any news or rumours about when Acer will update the 1410/1810t/1810tz with Arrandale (Core i) CULV processors?

I have searched Google thoroughly but I couldn't find any info.

Soon. Intel is starting production on the ulv Core i's this month, so look for 1810 update in the spring. Asus will soon be releasing updates to its UL's with the Core i7-620UM/640UM.

Why don't you think there would be battery improvement?

Currently a SU9400 has a TPD of 10 Watt, 4500MHD has TPD around 12watt, with total of 22watt at max performance.

Arrandale ULV has TPD of 18Watt total, which include both GPU and CPU, so we should be expecting about a 15% power improvement from the CPU+GPU.

On top of that the Arrandale has HT and turbo boost, according to both Intel and AMD power management theory of "Get idle quickly", should help improve battery power even further.

All in all, i expected the Arrandale 1810T to last 9 hours with the standard 5600mAh battery. If Acer bother to update the battery further, maybe to a 9cell or a high capacity 6cell (6200mAh), I won't be surprise if acer push the 1810T to beyond 10 hour battery life

That's theoretical... On the street I would like to see the power consumption of SU9600 compared to i7640m at the same performance...

Obviously the i7-640UM would be less...

ya there is going to be 3 ULV in the Arrandale family

    i7: 640UM, 620UM

    i5: 520UM

All 3 are rated for 18watt TPD, I am hoping when arrandale refresh arrive, we get 1410: i5-520UM, 1810tz: i7-620UM, and 1810T: 640UM, and all 3 come with USB 3.0

    A man can dream can't he :p

If I were waiting for 1810 Arrandale update, I'd hope for a version with the Core i7-660UM. Sounds like a nice match in speed to my SU9400.

Nope, the PTZ and PT are tablets; no Arrandale yet...
