I am looking at buying a Acer AS5742-5462G50Mn and I've found another model AS5742G-5464G50Mn I see that the first model has 2g of ram compared to the second models 4g ram but am not sure what the "G" is does this indicate that it has sperate graphic system to onboard graphics.
Am new here so be kind.
Thanks

Yes G in this case indicates the latter has an Nvidia GT420M discrete video card, while the one without G only has onboard video.
If you want to game, get the G. Haha. -
AS5742-5462G50Mn with Graphic: Onboard $813
AS5742G-5464G50Mn with Graphic Nvidia GT420M $993
AS5742G-5462G32MN with Graphic: Integrated VGA Shared Memory $789
AS5741G-434G50MN with Graphic: Nvidia GT320M 1GB Dedicated $899
AS5742G-374G64MN with Graphic: Nvidia GT420M 1GB Dedicated $759
Is Integrated VGA Shared Memory the same as saying graphic system onboard.
Wish Acer had a site that explained what each model has.
Thanks -
I know someone posted a European Acer part number decoder somewhere on the Acer subforum, but darned if I can remember it.
-
I was probably me with the European numbers.
It goes like this.
Example:
AS5742-5462G50Mn is Core i5 460M ( 546 part), 2GB RAM ( 2G), 500GB HDD ( 50). The last part Mn stands for multi-dive ( M) and wireless n wifi ( n)
Some are slightly different like AS5741G-434G50MN- here 43 stands for Core i5 430M but the CPU is not marked by 5.
Also AS5742G-5462G32MN contrary to what you wrote wally doesn't have integrated graphics- as jerg explained it has a dedicated GPU- GT 420M by the looks of it. -
Thanks for the help guys much appreciated
