I picked this up at OM today for $600.
1) Anyone know about this series?
2) Can this be downgraded to XP?
3) Can this be dual boot between the 64bit Vista and XP? if so How?
-
1) I don't really know about this series.
2) Probably. But Acer isn't providing XP drivers for it. So you'll have to get the drivers from the device manufacturer's site.
3) Yes http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=259759 -
Beside my gfx card problem(which I dont think you have) and having visa 64bit, I really like mine
-
whats the graphics card of 6930?
-
In the 6930 or in the OP's notebook ?
-
the 6930 series, which i'm guessing is like the 6920, has either the new 4500 intel on board card, or nvidia graphics card. The 6930-6455 has the 4500 one.
-
Yeah, its much like the 6920.
Comes with:
- GMA 4500HD
- 9300M GS DDR2
- 9600M GS DDR2
- 9600M GT GDDR3 -
Looking at the add at O M now. Going to to buy one. Any other problems showing up?
Nice forum.
tnks for the info guys. -
Wow, Picked up my 6930 other day, Still $599 at office max. Fast, even with vista 64 on it. Great pix on screen, audio a little bit low, but I use ear phones anyway.
Took a while to unload all the junk. I was going to change to xp, but I think I'll try and make it dual boot.
Now to buy a game to try out on it. -
I just got one and am very impressed
however the media touch pad does not work -- out of the box -- the led's are on but nothing happens if I touch them -- no volume change, no turning wireless on or off etc
following some instructions i looked at the synaptics driver -- there is no mediatouch icon or section there -- no lux pad as some describe. tried to restore that driver and no luck
any suggestions? -
pics would be nice
, maybe ill buy the version with the 9600gs on newegg.com
started at 799.99 then upped to 899.99, now its 899.99 with $50 discount.
seems nice, but I would like to see real consumer picturesnot the ones of newegg

As of today the, 6930-6550 w/9600GS is $849 - $50 coupon (EMCBBBEAF) = $799 w/free shipping at NewEgg. And the one at OM is $749 right now (comes out to $800+ w/tax), and the NewEgg version has a 9600GS 512MB video card and 320GB HD. Kind of a no-brainer which one to get...
-
got the one i had problems with replaced by OM. they did a cross-ship exchange
The replacement one is fantastic -- no problems and fast
v satisfied so far for $599 -
Good morning, I'm shopping for this notebook and have found that Staples in the Tampa Bay area is offering the same $600.00 price, while supplies last. Does anyone know where I can get a docking station. I need to use a mouse and keyboard. Many thanks, jhw
