    Hi,
    I have buy a second hand aspire 1403lc.
    I have installed a gigabyte wifi minipci card.
    My problem is that the gigabyte driver report "hardware disable".
    The wifi switch don't work.
    The way to get working is to cover with tape a pin in the pcb of the card.
    My question is:
    Someone knows if there is a jumper in motherboard o other to do for remove this hardware lock?

    for a laptop there will not be a "jumper" per say that you find in desktops. As far as minipci you are adding a wireless card to the pc. If your computer sees the card but it is currently disabled you need to take a look at your device manager for further details.

    To access your device manager do the following

    Start ---> Run ---> devmgmt.msc

    Under the Networking tab you may see a red X over your networking controller. Simply right click it and select "enable"

    Now I don't have the same network card or laptop of as you, but the process is still the same. Enable it and try it then ;)

    If it still does not work look at your device management and check to see if you have any yellow exclamation marks or question marks. This means the computer has hardware that is not configured with drivers yet.

    Also if you are not running XP on that laptop and running 98SE or Win2k right click My Computer and select the properties menu. Then click on hardware, and finally on device manager.

    In the device manager the network card is enabled.
    The wifi switch is in on position ad fn+f8 don't work.
    The only way to get the card works is cover a pin with tape see jpg.
    I think there is a hardware lock or a bios lock.
