Am I the only person who actually purchased one of these models? I am amazed at how many 1830 users there are but no 1430 owners? I bought mine at NewEgg in late November 2010.

    Core i5 520UM 4GB 320GB HD, $599.00

Pretty nice little machine, I can't seem to figure out the primary differences between this model and the 1830.

I also got the impression that it was a pretty new model, but now NewEgg shows the unit as deactivated and no longer available. I wish I had seen the 1830, I would have popped for the extra 200 bucks and had a unit with some community support ...

    Hi,

since 1830 and 1430 are basically the same, you have the same community support, of course :)

Well, this is true. I need to keep searching to locate a definitive comparison between the two machines. the 1830 sure seems like it is popular.

You'll probably find out the 1430 & 1830 are more similar than different in the end. Even more-so than the 1410 & 1810's.

    I've owned both a 1410 (SU2300/4GB/40GB SSD) & 1810 (SU7300/4GB/80GB SSD) and in 'day-to-day' operations... they're virtually identical.

    Cheers,
    Kermee

I'll have to check on the touchpad manufacturer. I am a mouse user so I don't rely on the touchpad at all. The few times I have used it, it seemed really small and it was a challenge to use without looking at it because it has no real defined edges.

I did notice that the battery life of the 1830 is longer, I wonder what the cause is for that. I am generally very happy with the unit, it is amazingly small and light, very portable, great for travel and extremely powerful!

Thanks to everyone for your responses, I feel comfortable now to sit and read through the huge 1830 thread!

The 1830 has a larger capacity battery. 5800mAh vs. 4400mAh.

    Hi guys,

Do you happen to know if the 1830 battery fits on the 1430?

Kermee, does your 1810's battery fit your 1410?

It seems 1430 batteries are harder to find.

    Thank you.

    I just recently purchased

Acer Aspire AS1430Z-4677 11.6in Notebook PC, Intel Pentium U5600 1.33GHz Processor, 3GB RAM, 320GB Hard Drive, Windows 7 Home Premium,

and I'd also like to know if the 1830 battery fits my machine. So far, I seem to be getting the advertised 4.5 hours from the supplied battery, but more is always better.

Sure am enjoying this little machine. So far it does everything I want it to do.
