    I am helping a friend whose Acer Aspire 1640 will not enter post nor boot.

    I cannot even find reference to it on Acer's Site. Is this model the one only 100 lonely people bought, hence it is not anywhere in the ethers being discussed?

    The only thing the laptop does is blink the DVD/CD light along with the light bulb green led on front edge blinking when I press the power button. The fan appears to be on inside.

    Any ideas from experienced Acer users or laptop users in general.
    As soon as I can get ahold of a small phillips screwdriver I will swap out the memory and the hard drive and see if she will boot.
    Also need a multimeter to test if the power input still works.
