Hi all, new to the forum and new to the Acer Aspire series.

I got my 1681 brand new this week and have been using it for three days now. For the fact that I cannot set my personal setting as default in the Acer's ePowermanagement, I uninstalled it and used XP's power management instead.

The weird thing is that I could catch a couple of wireless signals before the uninstallment, but none after. It seems that the wireless card is not functioning at all right now (although it does search for signal under command) and I am pretty sure I did everything right. So is there any hidden touch to reactivate the wireless card or I will have to stuck with the crappy Acer ePowermanagement softwear? Thanks a lot.

By the way, I am very impressed with this machine for the 900 bucks I paid.

    1. Did you try the wireless on/off button?

    2. Upgrade your wireless drivers, if it's an intel card the drivers and management software from intel is a million times better then XPs.

    1. Where is it? I can only disable the wireless function from Control Panel. Is there a physical button on 1681? Please tell me.

    2. Where and how can I find the appropriate Intel driver you mentioned?

    Thanks a lot.

The physical button is the orange light that turns on when wifi is detected. It can enable/disable wifi. I have had problems with the wifi setting automatically turning off ever since I installed Acer ePowerManagement. Each time, I have to enable it myself. Quite bothersome, but I rather deal with that than formatting the computer again.

Thank you all. I found the hardware button finally. The funny thing is that there is no sign showing if the wireless card is on or off when pushing the button. The only way I can tell is that it will flash when searching for wireless signal.
