Hey guys.. just a quick question out there.. i was thinking about picking up the 1681wlmi and was just wondering about the shared video (Intel 855GME chipset with integrated graphics). Does anybody have the specifications for this video? (video ram)? im going to be using this computer mainly for internet usage and maybe some light gaming.. such as starcraft or warcraft 3 and was wondering if this will be able to handle it? Seems like Acer replaced the video and swapped the 9700 with an integrated video..

Damn, that really sucks. Acer units are no longer a huge value for the money. With an ATI 9700 GPU it was great, but with an Intel Extreme 2 GPU really sucks.

Well, with that said, the Intel Extreme 2 GPU will surely handle internet usage and some light gaming. Older games like Starcraft & Warcraft 3 (1+ years old) should work ok with this GPU type. Just try not to play Doom 3 or Half-Life 2 on this unit.

It should normally be upto 64MB of shared memory. Just remember, the more video memory is shared, the less system memory you have, so get it with 512MB or more so your OS/apps run smoothly. Some systems will have a set amount of shared video memory (64MB) while others will have a dynamic amount that will change depending on the video memory requirements. In most cases both are not tweakable in the OS.
