    hi everyone...
i just bought my notebook from www.notebookparadies.de...

    the specs in brief are:

    Acer Aspire 1692 WLMi/LX.A5405.070
    Centrino 1.73 GHz,
    512 MB Ram,
    80 GB (4200 rpm),
    Double Layer DVD+ Writer,
    15,4" TFT WXGA,
ATI Mobility Radeon X700 128 MB,
    XP Home,
    Works

well XP home was in german so i formatted and installed XP pro...
the computer is quite good....i'm happy with my purchase...i'm in the process of testing things out...

the hard disk is kind of slow.......but thats a compromise i have made considering the rest of the laptop setup....

the WXGA LCD screen is really good...i havent really tested the graphics yet......i'm waiting to get some games...

there are a few things that i had a problem with though....

    1. i had a problem trying to install daemon tools version 3.29..
after installing i would get a blue screen error saying that an attempt was made to access non executable memory...

does anyone know what this about???

    2. the left side {where the DVD writer lies} starts vibrating alot when the DVD starts spinning...it feels like there is an earthquake on the left side of the keyboard.....is this normal?

    3. i would like to know more about keeping the battery connected to the laptop even when it is fully charged and the a/c power is on...i have heard that this is not good for the battery...is this true..?

also is it okay to remove the battery while the laptop is switched on?

    please help...thank you very much..

-> Run memtest86 on the laptop just to make sure it's not bad RAM. http://www.memtest86.com/
Also it looks like it maybe a known issue. If I didn't fsck my laptop I would install and try it. Search google.

-> Shouldn't be but maybe somebody with the same model as your would know better. Mines a slot load 845D in a 1694 Same?

    3. i would like to know more about keeping the battery connected to the laptop even when it is fully charged and the a/c power is on...i have heard that this is not good for the battery...is this true..?

->The laptop will/should automaticlly turn off charging once the battery is fully charged. I've never seen a laptop that does not stop charging once it's full charged. Maybe it's a bad chagers in the laptops that keep charging.

also is it okay to remove the battery while the laptop is switched on?

->Shouldn't be a probablem. But I would try it with not apps open just in case windows justs a little stupid about it.

    please help...thank you very much..

    ->Hope I did.
    Dan
