we're going to post a review on this laptop soon, it's by Sutheep (who i think is also in Malaysia). I haven't edited this review yet, but here's the entire text for you to read before it's posted on the site with pictures:

    Overview & Introduction
This notebook is an Acer Aspire 1692WLMi. It is a desktop replacement notebook. The configuration are as follows:
    Intel Pentium M Processor 740 (Processor speed 1.73GHz, 2MB L2 cache, 533MHz FSB) ,
Intel 915PM Express Chipset Integrated Intel Pro/Wireless 2200BG
    256MB DDR-RAM (Max 2GB)
    80GB HDD, Weight 2.95kg.
    DVD-Dual Double Layer Drive,
    4-in-1 card reader
    56K Fax/Modem, 10/100/1000Mbps LAN
15.4” WXGA Acer CrystalBrite TFT LCD(1280x800 pixel)
    S-Video Out
    ATI Mobility Radeon X600 64MB
Li-Ion Battery (3.5 hrs. battery life)
    IEEE 1394 port,
    Infrared port ,
    Integrated Bluetooth
    Acer SignalUp wireless technology support
    Microsoft Windows XP Home

    Reason for buying.
The main reason for buying this laptop would be the bang for the buck; you won’t get this much if you go for an IBM at this price. I was looking at the couple of other, like the ASUS. But no notebooks gave me Dual DVD or Pentium M 1.73 at this price. I bought it for 59,600baht (US$1490).

Where & How was it purchased
I purchased it at a local dealer in the computer city. They were Acer’s authorized dealer. If anyone wanted to buy Acer, I’d suggest you to go to an authorized dealer.

    Form & Design
The top of the notebook looks very bland and simple, with Acer’s emblem on it and invisilink sticker. . I think the notebook looks good, very professional, no distracting colors. It is made of plastic silver color. You did have to take a second look at it to be sure it is plastic, does flex quite a bit. Ripples on the LCD can be seen if the pressure applied is hard enough. At 2.95kg it isn’t that heavy if you carry and walk short distances, but if you going to walk at least a mile or so, I’d suggest a back pack or a lighter notebook. Also, it’s very easy to use on the lap.

    Screen
The screen on this notebook is very crisp and clear. It’s a 15.4” wide screen. The crystalbrite does make a huge difference. I have used this notebook outdoors and the text is very eligible. The unit came with no dead pixel, hooray to Acer’s Dot Free Campaign. The resolution I use is 1280x800.

    Speakers
The speakers are the same in almost every notebook. They are rich in mid-level and hi-level sound, but are missing the bass. So I’d suggest you to get a good earphones, if you want to listen to music or movies.

    Processor and Performance
The notebook is pretty snappy with the 1.73MHz. It boots windows quite quick. I have a 256MB RAM, I will upgrade to 512MB as I feel 512 would be much better. Since I’ve bought the notebook, it hasn’t even hanged once. I played CS:Source on it, with quite good graphics, and it ran quite well. Have not tried maximum graphic as yet.

    Benchmark
I ran super PI with 2million digits. The time it took to calculate was 1.49, this was on maximum power setting.

    Keyboard & Touchpad
The keyboard has a nice layout, although not as nice as the Acer Ferrari. And Acer place the CTRL key where it was supposed to be. Also the page up/page down/delete key are all dedicated, that’s also a good thing. You can also control the media via the keyboard. 2 new keys Acer added, it’s the Euro and Dollar sign keys, next to the directional keys. I think this is a nice touch, as most notebooks leave this place blank. Also I notice quite a flex on the keyboard, if press hard enough. Ohh, well this isn’t an IBM.
The touchpad is synaptics made, and it’s nice and big. It is very responsive, I think this is due to the configuration I did. There’s also a 4-way direction dedicated key in the middle of the left and right mouse buttons.

    Input and Output Ports
On the front of the notebook, you can see the IrDA port, next to it is the power and HDD LEDs. Acer has added Wifi and Bluetooth buttons, very nice if you want to save powers. Also, the line-in, head phones, and microphone slots are in front very nice if you use head phones, no wires tangling behind. There’s 1 USB port on the front as well.
On the right side, there’s firewire on the edge. Then a card-reader, under the card reader is the PCMCIA card slot. Then there’s 2 horizontal USB 2.0 ports. Next to it is the S-Video Out. Then there is LAN and Modem port.
On the back there is VGA out port and the battery. Next to the battery there’s Kensington lock slot.
On the left there’s the optical drive and nothing else.

    Wireless
The wireless included in this notebook is Intel 2200BG. Connected right out of the box. The range is pretty good, with Acer’s Invisilink. And yes, this notebook has Bluetooth as well as Infrared port.

    Battery
I have ran longer than 3 hours on it. I think it could go up to 4 may be more, depends on what you are doing. But the brochure confirmed 3.5 hours. I’m quite happy with the juice.

    Operating System & Software
The notebook came preinstalled with Windows XP Home. The CD included in the package was 3 recovery CDs, 1 System CD, Norton Antivirus 2005, NTI CD&DVD Maker. I have not used any of these. For antivirus I use NOD32, the best ever IMHO. And for CDs and DVDs, I use Nero.

    Customer Support
I have not had a chance to use Customer Support; I hope I don’t have to. The notebook came with 3 years warranty. I don’t think it’s possible to buy warranty in Asia-Pacific, but I’ll have to check.

    Complaints
Touch pad keys not so good
Flex on screen top, shows ripples
    Some flex on the keyboard
Heat on the right palm rest
    No middle click
HDD/Num Lock/Cap/ LEDs could be placed in better position

    Praises
    Excellent Price
    Dual Layer DVD
Infrared and Bluetooth, how often you find these two in one notebook
    Crystalbrite Screen
    Wireless Range
    Great placement of ports
And ofcourse, the Simple professional looks

    Conclusion,
I did suggest anyone who wants to buy a notebook with decent dedicated VRAM and an all rounder and you get most bangs for the buck.
