    Hi,

I have an Acer Aspire 1714SMi that is so far untested as I have no power supply for it. It requires a heavy duty 19V 9.5A (180W) supply. I have found some chargers for around £50 online but am reluctant to purchase one in case the laptop is faulty.

Is there anyone in the Surrey/West London area who has charger and would let me visit to test the system or alternatively, anyone who has a spare that they may sell me.

Alternatively, Is there any other way to test it e.g trickle charging the battery using a low power 19V charger (I have access to an Aspire 5003 charger for this) The connector is a 4 pin male socket, to try this does anyone know which pin outs should be connected to the barrel connector or if the battery can be charged outside the unit.

    Any advice greatly appreciated.

    Thanks

    Andy
