    Hi Everyone,
My question is wether or not the 1800 will support a newer Socket 775 processor or not (Xeon 3000 or Core 2 Duo/Extreme/Quad). I know this Notebook is a Dinosaur but it's been a reliable Workhorse for about 6 years. I just bought a replacement, but am not ready to chuck the Old Girl out the door yet. My thinking is that now it's not my primary computer anymore maybe I can "Tweak" it a bit and squeeze a little more life out of it.

    Thanks,
    Rick

According to the service manual Aspire 1800 uses Intel Prescott only.
Any C2D is off limits and Xeon wouldn't be recognized by BIOS anyway.
You may upgrade to the fastest Prescott available but I'm not sure it that makes sense- depends on a cost and what you already have in it.
