I just got an Aspire 1802SWMi from Newegg, and i've had a problem trying to upgrade the memory.

I bought 2 x 512Mb Corsair ValueRam PC3200 SO-DIMMS for the laptop for i could upgrade to a gig. But when i install the memory, the top memory dimm will not sit down properly, and will often pop out. The catches don't seem to stick. If i use the memory it came with, there is no problem. I have also tried the Samsung memory out of my dell 9100, and that has the same problem. Anybody else had this problem ? Or suggest a memory model that they've used ?

It's going to cost me shipping & restocking fee to return the memory, because there's no fault with the memory, just doesn't fit properly !

I'm sorry to hear about your problem foolish501. I am looking to buy ram for my 3201xci. I don't want to encounter the same problem as foolish501. Can anyone help me with a ram purchase as well?

bonedages, hopefully the 3201xci isn't set so the memory goes on top of itself. i'm sure the ram gets hot, and having them on top of each other ain't gonna help much. Wish they had put them side by side like my 9100, much easier.

guys my RAM is stacked on my 1802 - but i don't have problems with it sitting properly - are you sure the chip underneath is seated correctly?

i upgraded to 1gb of pc2700 (kingston chips), i wanted the 3200s but they were much more expensive.

it makes a big difference to performance of my fave games and recommend the upgrade.

markiet, i'm sure the memory is seated properly, i have no problem with the memory that came with it, but the corsair memory i bought, and the samsung memory i have in my 9100 will not fit properly. i guess i'm gonna have to return the memory to newegg, and spend another $100 to get kingston memory

I only replaced one of my slots on the 3201XCi. It works great!

Davila it's not that i'm not seating the memory properly, i don't even have to have a so-dimm in the bottom slot, and the memory will not sit properly on the top slot. acer just told me to go buy the memory from another company if i wanted memory that will fit, but the prices quoted were 4x the same as from newegg
