On an external LCD monitor (Samsung SyncMaster XL2370HD) connected by the VGA port, the graphics from my TimelineX 1830T exhibit pixel smearing.

For instance, the 1-pixel wide border of the battery charge indicator is smeared into a 2-pixel wide line, at half the brightness. This pixel smearing does not appear on the laptop's built-in screen, only on the external monitor ... at any resolution from 1366x768 up to 1910x1080.

Yet I can unplug the monitor cable from the 1830T's VGA port, move it over to the VGA port of an older TimelineX 1810T, and the graphics are fine -- no smearing at all. This seems to rule out a problem with the cable or the monitor.

Any ideas? In most respects the 1830T is an upgrade to the 1810T, but the smeared graphics on the big monitor are practically a deal killer, as they affect the entire screen including apps.
