    Hello,

    This is a notebook that I am considering to buy (as well as a couple of others). I was wondering if there are any owners of the above model that are willing to review and answer some questions for me? This would help me a great deal.

    The model I'm looking at has the following specs (the newer ones on the Acer America site has changed somewhat):
    Pentium M 1.5MHz
    40 GB 4200rpm HD
    512 MB PC2700 RAM
    CDR-RW(24x10x24)/DVD-ROM (8x)
    15.4 Widescreen XGA (1280x800)
    ATI Mobility Radeon 9200 at 64MB
    Win XP-Pro
    Intel's WiFi b/g
    3 USB2.0, Infrared port, SD card reader (among other ports)

    1. Please review it for me. I am not interested in benchmarks, more on how it is holding up, the screen, build quality, keyboard, 4200rpm HD's performance, battery life, etc.
    2. Do you have the 'ii' problem? (big concern for me)
    3. Any problems with it?
    4. Did it need service? If so, how was Acer's tech support and service?
    5. If you were in the market to buy another notebook, would it be an Acer?


    Any other advice, comments are welcome.

    Search over at www.notebookforums.com, they have several reviews of this machine there.

    Overall its considered a great notebook.

    He has a , at the end of the addy. Remove that and you should be fine. Notice it is the same addy as what these forums are on.

    I have the 2012WLMi model, purchased recently in the middle east.

    It's basically the same as the WLCi model you are asking about, apart from the spec. (60gb hd instead of 40gb and dvdrw instead of cdrw/dvd combo) - Also note that the WLCi models available in the middle east had the 64mb 9700 radeon just like the WLMi, so the only differences were the hard drive and the optical drive.

    Sorry if the following is a little bit brief, the other forum has some more in-depth opinions and reviews of the 2010-series (mostly the 2012WLMi model, but the casing opinions you can apply to the WLCi model)

    1. Build quality is good, screen is of good quality and bright - no dead pixels at all (yet?), keyboard is reasonable, no flex that I could detect. 4200rpm hard drive is a little slow sometimes but most manufacturers only use 4200rpm as standard anyway so you can't really hold this against Acer. Battery life seems quite good, even though I *still* haven't been brave enough to do a full drain, I would estimate non-gaming battery life to be around 4 hours (with wi-fi) and gaming battery life to be around 1.5 to 2 hours.

    2. Not come across this problem on mine.

    3. Not really - I had a little (self-inflicted!) scare when the video card started locking up in UT2004, but it ended up being due to the optimised Omega drivers that I had installed, the latest version of these hasn't shown this problem and the stock Acer-supplied drivers never had problems for as long as I used them (about a week)

    4. Not yet (knock on wood)

    5. The particular model I bought would be very hard to beat on price/features ratio.

    6. - You should definately check to see if the updated WLCi model with the 64mb 9700 radeon is available to you.
