I am seriously considering buying the aspire 2025 within the next few weeks, but I wanted to clear up a few questions that I have.
First, Is that sticky key thing now fixed? I havent really seen any complaints in recent posts.
Second, I thought I read somewhere about the Arcade thing not being on the current 2025 models, and from two of the pictures on the Acer site, the case is lacking the controls and lcd...
Third, I dont know if I was missing it, but I never saw a latch to keep the notebook closed, does is not have one?
Forth, Does anyone happen to know about the 2026? There is a spec sheet on the uk acer site, but it says nothing about a Us release.
Im sure I've missed something, but thanks anyway.

1) There are no reports of sticky keys so the problem must be fixed.
2) The 2020 series comes with the arcade console, while the 2010 series does not.
3) What is a latch [?]

Just got mine last week, and it's a beautiful laptop.
1. Have not yet had any sticky key problems, but haven't written any extensive documents yet.
2. Arcade console is on it.
3. The latch is on the topside of the screen.

Thanks for the info.
No date set for the 2026 though? -
The 2026 is available only in Europe and Asia. For us the poor guys in the US they have the 2025. This of course doesn't mean that we will never get to try the 2.0GHz Dothan but this will probably come as un upgrade on the 2025 or may be a new 2027, who knows.
When, I can't tell you - probably even Acer USA don't know yet - just don't wait for an Aspire 2026 on the US market cause it may never happen.
And don't worry about sticky fingers - this time Acer seems to have made a truely outstanding lapotop (reading reviews from several other forums). The problems people report are no major problems at all but more of being a bit too picky in your desires - phone jack should have been on the back and on the fron side, things like that. The only major issue seems to be the fact that the 2025 comes with the 4200rpm HD and not the 5400 reported on the Acer website. This means worse performans but longer battery life so it really depends on your personal preferrence. The HD issue seems to be the only minus I have read about on the 2025 apart from the price 0f 2100-2200 of course which is the BIG issue for me. I would love to buy the Aspire 2025 but I may eventually go for the cheaper M6811 which is probably a better performer but I am woried with those cracked hinges that seem to a major upset among M68xx owners.
Peace.
Peace

These comments apply to the US 2025 WLMi
I haven't typed a long document either, but so far I have not experienced the keystroke repetition problem while messenging. A few of the smaller keys (delete, for example) feel physically sticky. The normal sized keys have a pretty good feel. The lack of home and end keys would be a pain if I were creating documents, but I'm not, so it's not much of a bother.
The touchpad buttons require heavy pressure to click, but I like to tap the touchpad instead, so I actually prefer the heavy pressure to prevent accidental clicks with my wrist.
The volume button on the arcade panel is cheap and seems flimsy. It wiggles in its hole like a loose tooth.
The latch mechanism feels a little cheaper and less solid than Ye Olde
Dell Lattitude that I keep around, but it gets the job done and I don't expect it to break.
Overall, the case and keyboard are pretty nice. The arcade volume button and the loose/sticky feeling small keys at the outer edges of the keyboard irk me a little consindering what I paid for the machine. If those little details had been refined I would have rated the case as excellent.
The machine also runs relatively cool. The heat is limited to the right rear quarter, and the fan is very quiet. When running video games full-tilt, it gets warm, but I would say even at its hottest it is still probably cooler than a P4 notebook at idle.
Gaming wise, I have run Call of Duty and the UT 2004 demo at high quality and full resolution with absolutely no problems. They both run very smoothly. Farcry brings it to its knees, but the same is true for all but the highest-end desktops. I can play it at lower detail, but I still experience framerate problems.
The widescreen is great for more desktop area and playing DVD's in widescreen format. It is very bright, crisp, and mine arrived with no dead pixels. I only have my desktop panel (LG L1720P with DVI and Radeon 9800 Pro) to compare to, but the colors are not nearly as vivid. It also does not have a great true black or true white. I would give it very high marks if the colors were slightly less muted, and like I said, the brightness and sharpness are quite good.
The internal wireless works without a hitch, and battery life is also quite good. I would like to experiment with the DVD playback a little more before commenting on it.
Overall, I like the machine and I still feel like it is a very good value. I do have a few minor nitpicks, but they are things I can live with. Everytime I use it, I'm impressed by how much machine it is, and it's a great looking and performing computer.
If you want a 202X with the widescreen, I wouldn't worry too much about the 2.0ghz over the 1.8. The 2.0 machines are all still selling at a much higher premium over the 1.8s. The price increase between machines with 1.8 and 2.0ghz processors does not seem proportional at all to to the price difference between 1.6, 1.7, and 1.8 in identical notebooks. If you take the money you save by buying the 1.8 and instead get more RAM and a faster hard drive, you'll have a better performing machine anyway.
If you don't mind spending the extra $400 for the .2ghz, look at the Acer Travelmate 8006, which is available now and has a higher resolution display. -
to see good pics of the acer 2025 go to newegg.com. it does have acrade controls and looks excatly like the 2003lmi

I have the Acer 2025 and absolutely love it. I myself have experienced no problems with the keys sticking. Only one minor problem. Little rubber feet on the bottom of the notebook keep coming off, especially when i slide it into my laptop case. anyone els have this prob? If so, got any good suggestions on glue that wont hurt it?
