Hello,
I am going to purchase a new laptop in the next several days. So far the Asus W1000N and the Acer Aspire 2025 seem to best fit my needs. The only real differences I see in the 2 notebooks is that the Acer Aspire has a 1.8 processor and a wxga display, while the Asus W1000N has a 1.7 and a wsxga display. Both are similar in price, so that is not an issue. Any Feedback would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks, Chris

Provide detailed specs, please, it'd be faster to help you that way.
The Asus is considered a great brand if you want to go by that, but what about the video card, ram, and optical drives?
Based on what you've just given us its basically a matter of which you prefer, a bigger screen resolution or more processing power. -
Sorry for the omission. Also, the Asus comes with a 2 year warranty v. a 1 year from Acer. Here are the specs for both.

I am considering the same two machines, plus the ASUS M6N and Mitac 8050. (also the IBM T42 15" with Flexview, but just about through considering that one.)
Let me know what your considerations are to this point. Happy to help since I am going to pick one of these this week.

I can't comment on quality of either two brands except that people like them, but based on specs I would go for the Acer unless you want the option of having more things on your screen due to a higher resolution.
For gaming performance the Acer is the better choice, imo. The only problem I hear about the Aspire 2000 series is a tough touchpad, but otherwise its considered a great notebook. -
hmm, interesting thread here. I was hoping to post similarly regarding choosing between the acer 2012WLmi (PM 1.5, 15.4 wvga) 60 gb, 512 ram, dvd dual)and an Asus M6000 barebones configured at PM 1.6, 15.4Wsxga, 80 gb (5400rpm), dvdrw, 512 ram. Does anyone have any experience, pros, cons, cautions etc about ordering a barebones Asus configuration? Seems like an interesting choice....

Toddy, I'm considering something very similar (needing to buy one or the other within the next few days) see my new thread in this forum.
