Just got my Acer Aspire 2025 a week ago. I am absolutely delighted I made the choice of getting an Acer aspire 2025 notebook.
It has everything one can want in a notebook at a very reasonable price.
(previous laptops I owned by order of preference: Gateway, Dell inspiron 8000, Compaq presario 1700T, IBM thinkpad)
My Pros:
- Great look from every angle and the right weight and thickness
- Fantastik sharp, bright and crisp display (128 mb display adapter)
- Cool slot load DVD-RW/CD-RW
- Convenient front load SD/MMC card reader, convenient external Play, Stop, Volume and FF/RW buttons.
- Practical Blue tooth and Wireless on/off button with cool Blue and orange indicator light.
- Pentium M 1.8, 80Gb hard drive, 512 Mb Ram, 15.4 Wide screen display,
My Cons:
- Although the overall built of this notebook is extremely sturdy (comparable to or even superior than a Gateway or IBM), The latches that close the diplay look, feel and sound flimsy.
- Arcade software although convenient when operating out of windows, I feel it has very limited capabilities.
- Double partioning of hard drive
For me this is the Company (Acer) that has really impressed me the most, delivering a top notch product at a reasonable price. (I paid around $ 2,350. If you want the same configuration (that is if you can get all those features at once. I know the slot load DVD-rW is only available on Apple Power books) Dell Compaq, Gateway, IBM or Sony, you would shell out between $2,800 and $3,400.
The only worry is service and support. If you have good knowledge in computer hardware and software issue, than you will only need support when you have a hardware defect.
I plan to purchase a 3year total warranty support soon and possibly upgrade my RAM to 1Gb.

very cool, glad you're smiling and happy with your purchase! Acer is really trying to make headway in the U.S. market so I think over the next year or two you'll hear more about them and they'll be selling more notebooks over here. Of course, they'll need good word of mouth such as yours to help them spread.
The double partition con you mention is actually quite common in notebooks now. Mfrs will do this and put a restore image on the smaller partition or have a backup utility that backs up to the extra partition. Some would rather not have this of course. -
Hello. Can you please tell what is the brand and model number of the hard disk in the Acer Aspire 2025? What is its speed? Is it easy to upgrade the hard disk, maybe with a Hitachi 7200 rpm?
Thank you.

Can you please answer my question?
Thank you.

Hello?

The HDD is a 4200 rpm Hitachi, if I'm not mistaken. I'll try to get a model number when mine arrives. Upgradability should be the same as any other notebook.
