No listing on Acer's US site but, it's on the Acer UK site..
    http://www.acer.co.uk/acereuro/page4.do?dau22.oid=4921&UserCtxParam=0&GroupCtxParam=0&dctx1=17&ctx1=UK&crc=66313880

    Specs:
    Mobile Intel® Centrino™ Technology with Intel® Pentium® M 755 (2.0GHz, 2MB L2, 400FSB) processor - Intel® 855GME chipset - Intel® PRO/Wireless 2200 (802.11g), Microsoft® Windows® XP Professional Edition, 15.4" WXGA TFT display, 60GB HDD, 512MB (2*256) DDR, ATI Radeon 9700 128MB, 56Kbps modem, wired LAN 10/100/1000, DVD-Supermulti (slot), Li-Ion battery, S-video/TV-out

Loved my 1681WLMi but a 2GHZ Dothan, 128MB Radeon 9700, DDR333 support, and a 5 hour Battery are hard to beat. [:0] No Bluetooth mentioned but it could probably be added.

The Aspire Line for North America is weak compared to waht you UK guys get..

Anyone know what the difference is between Part# LX.A2506.010 and LX.A2505.047?? Both show to be a 2026WLMi and the specs are identical.

I called Acer America and they say they have no plans to release the Aspire 2026WLMi Here [ :(]

You Brits have all the luck, [ ;)]I wish Acer would release the better laptops here too.... [ :(]

There is one on ebay, but I don't have the cash to jump on it right at this second..

LX.A2506.010 comes pre-loaded with Windows XP Pro, and the later, LX.A2505.047 comes pre-loded with windows XP Home Edition.

It is a good system, Blue toothe is not a problem, since you can have a USB Bluetooth adapter for a fraction of a price offered by Acer.

The only problem is teh weight of teh system, due to 15.4" screen and Super Multi drive.

One more Problem: Since teh system is equipped with DVD drive that loads the DVDs/CDs automatically, unlike the conventional Tray type, you can not use smaller CD Media size or Credit Card size CD Media.

Thanks for the info, and good points. The 3Kg weight is rougly 6.6lbs, same as the 1681WLMi so it's not bad. Considering the performance gain I can live with that.

As far as the slot loading MultiDVD, I would probably upgrade it to a Dual Layer tray load at some point..

I would also upgrade it to 1GB RAM and a 7200RPM drive same as I did to the 1681, both well worth the $$$.

The Hitachi 60GB 7200RPM is very fast and quiet drive. However, I want to see how well the Seagate Momentus 7200RPM drives do when they are released. I have a Momentus 5400RPM 40GB drive in an Old Inspiron 4000 and it is absolutley amazing as 5400RPM drives go. Really Really fast and Silent.

For now though I need to source a 2026WLMi it is EXACTLY what I want in Laptop. (well.. aside from the hard drive and RAM[ ;)] )

Thanks for the info related to hard drives.

For the time being The HDD is not a problem in my TravelMate 8005LM as I am quite Happy with the performance [ :)], so I will consider this later.

But if Super Multi DVD Drive with Dual Layer support is available, I am surely being considering getting it for my TravelMate.

Can you provide me the link to place where I can purchase Tray type Dual Layer Super Muti DVD Drive[?]

    Appreciate your help.

Thanks Ziptar for the info and kind help.

I was on abusiness trip to Dubai and Saudi Arabia and just got back to UK. They have the entire range of Acer Notebooks over there and substantially lower in prices at least compared to UK.

The Aspire 2026 and TravelMate 5006 which both are priced at around US$2400.

The only difference I have noticed that they have Arabic Engraved on the keyboard and the sales lady told me that it can be removed or they can offer to change the keyboard with English only for around US25.

But surely they have a wider collection than at least UK (I checked Dixon and Curry's, and PC World here in Birmingham but they don't carry as wide ccollection either).

When I spoke to the sales lady and told her how a person can order Aspire 2026 in US, she advised me to try Computer shops and supplier in Hong Kong or Singapore who ship to US and the warranty is covered under Acer Traveller International Warranty.

the aspire 2000, 2010, snd 2000 line has been discontinued in the US due to a lawsuit by a US company... I don't have the details but someone posted it a while ago.

The 2026 was released here in the US for a very short while together with the 2010 series.

    Found The Thread http://www.notebookreview.com/forums/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=6087

That Sucks... Would lead me to believe there were some available and sold in the U.S. before the lawsuit, so One coulkd be picked up on ebay maybe or elsewhere at some point..

    Love this quote
"The incident will not impact our sales since the high-end notebook computer series accounts for only a small portion of our shipments," Feng said."
