The raised square on the bottom of the chassis is very hot, and the fan is only running on medium. The people in the repair shop claimed that it's because the model had a more powerful graphics chip than other Acers, but... it's just some integrated SiS thing. It gets really hot to touch. Is there a way to make the fan go faster, or to underclock the chip if it's the problem?

    Thanks guys

If your 3000 is the same as my 3500, hat same spot on mine gets very hot as well, but that is where the ram is located on mine. I bought a laptop cooler to sit mine on, and it doesn't get near as hot.
