Hello all. Have owned the Aspire 3003 for about 3 months now. I know for a fact that playing cds and dvds used to work but now for some reason when I try to play a physical disc (either cd or dvd) the sound is way distorted. It's as if the sound level was recorded way too high. It's exactly like when a friend makes you an audio cassette (I know I'm dating myslef here) and they had the record level way too high, you go to listen to the tape and it sounds awful. But, if I copy the cd or dvd to my c drive and play it back all is fine...its just when I'm actually playing it from the drive. I went into device manager and looked at the properites for the drive and moved the audio slider to minimum but that didn't make a difference. Any ideas???
    Thanks in advance.

Perhaps a driver update is a good place to start. If you feel comfortable deleting the secondary ide channel in device manager. Windows will find and re-install it when rebooted.
