Have a Acer 3680 that came with vista, dumped it for Xp.
Installs ok, but divice manager shows no drivers for
Ethernet controller
Ethernet controller
Mass Storage Controller
PCI Device
Letting xp look for the drivers useing a pcmcia card doesnt help much, says it can not find any drivers.
Trying to install or update drivers doesnt produce anything either.
Do i need to install the chip set drivers first? so xp can find or accept for drivers?
The Aspire 3680 is also in the 5580/5570/5570z series, would any of those drivers work?
Any ideas and or suggestions are welcome. Thank you

Yes, you need chipset drivers, and the other drivers for the LAN, etc. Using a desktop, go pay a visit to: http://www.intel.com/support/chipsets/sb/CS-022034.htm and dl the 940GML Chipset driver, then the 940GML graphics driver. Here are the rest: http://www.acerpanam.com/synapse/forms/Acer_drivers.cfm
Remember, install chipset drivers first from a pendrive since your laptop doesn't have internet, then download the wireless and wired networking drivers, then you can dl the rest from your laptop.
***BEFORE YOU INSTALL THE AUDIO DRIVERS, DOWNLOAD THE UNIFIED AUDIO ARCHITECTURE PATCH FOR XP. GOOGLE IT***
