My Aspire 3680-2633 is currently running in IDE mode. There is no option to enable SATA in the BIOS although the motherboard uses a SATA notebook drive.
I have the most recent BIOS, v1.3508. Is there any way to enable SATA in the BIOS?
By the way I'm running Windows XP Professional with latest Intel drivers.
Thanks in advance!!

why do you think it is running in IDE mode?

Western Digital Scorpio WD800BEVS 80GB 5400 RPM 8MB Cache SATA 1.5Gb/s Notebook Hard Drive - OEM detected as IDE drive.

and your BIOS has no way to switch it??? very strange
did previous version of BIOS have that option,, and now it is gone due to bios update??
seems strange that there is no OPTION in the BIOS,,,
with no option i would think it would force SATA mode only
later

Nope BIOS has no option at all regarding SATA before or after the BIOS update.

call acer is my suggestion,,, like those trained monkeys have a clue
best to wait till your warranty is a week or 2 from expiring... then send back for repair
thus gaining another 90days warranty -
(Re)Install Intel Matrix Storage Manager?
-
No it has nothing to do with the Intel Matrix Storage Manager.
It seems as though Acer has disabled the SATA controller altogether and is forcing IDE emulation.
Are they any Acer 3680 notebook owners out there with the same issue? -
Appears like I have the same issue with 5570/5580. They are very close in relation to your 3680 (have the same dismantle procedures and BIOS).
