    Aspire 3690 Screen Flashes and Goes Dark,Why?

    I have an Aspire 3690 running Vista Basic 32bit sp2.When I push the power button,the screen flashes the Acer start screen and then blacks out.I can just barely make out what is on the screen.Is this a back light problem or do I need a new screen?

    Likely a backlight or inverter issue.

    Lately I've discovered (although with 17") backlights from LG screens are much easier to replace than those from Samsung LCDs.

    However its more likely the inverter, as this gives the exact same symptoms and they have a higher rate of failure.

    OK,my screen started working again.Why,I have no clue.I took everything apart to check for loose connections and bad wires.I found nothing any where.

    I bought a 15 pin VGA cable so I could use my flat screen tv as a monitor.When everything is connected and the input on the tv is set to rgb/vga,I get an invalid format error on the tv screen.Why?My other Acer Aspire works like a dream on the tv.

    The resolution on the VGA output is set incorrectly.
