    Aspire 4220 wireless problems

    I am having problems with a freinds Aspire 4220 conecting to a wireless internet.The computer was running Vista and connction failed.I have installed Xp and had a connction working and ran windows updates.Now can not get a connection.I get a message "No wireless networks were found in range.Make sure the wireless switch on your computer is on."
    Can anyone help.
