Hi guys,
I have been checking all over the place for the past two days to
find out what my laptop is.
The past year I have stayed in Thailand and this is also where I
have bought this laptop at the Tesco Lotus. I bought the laptop
without an OS. The box and sticker next to the keyboard give these
specs:
Intel Celeron dual-core processor T1400 1,73GHz
Mobile Intel GMA X3100
1 GB DDR2
And overal this is correct. But when I was trying to find out
what the motherboard was I stumbled upon some strange results.
Attached are the results from CPU-z, Everest, Intel PIU and
Sisoft Sandra (notice the contradictions).
I would like to hear your thoughts on this and would also like
to find out what my motherboard is in case I need an BIOS
upgrade at some time.
And if somebody knows what the lcd driver is for this laptop,
it will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks for your time and thoughts, and I hope to soon learn
a bit more about this machine.

The Motherboard manufacturer and model, will be shown on the Mainboard page of CPU-Z.
And what are the contradictions ?
And the monitor does not need a driver. The OS has a native driver for the monitor..and the monitor is usually considered PnP. -
It doesnt say anywhere that the cpu is es.
does it say that on the cpu-z cpu info?
it should be at the type of processor at the
end like this (es) -
Moederbord:
CPU Type Mobile DualCore , 1733 MHz (13 x 133)
Moederbordnaam Acer Aspire 4315
Moederbord Chipset Intel Crestline-GML GL960
Systeemgeheugen 1014 MB (DDR2-667 DDR2 SDRAM)
BIOS Type Phoenix (05/15/08)
It's an Acer Aspire 4315 -
sorry misread
http://support.acer-euro.com/drivers/notebook/as_4315.html
that should help with drivers and bios update. -
Thanks for your replys and input.
Monitor:
I know but for some reason I cannot use a color profile with the current monitor driver. So there must be a confusion with the driver and the display

If the Intel GL960 is part of the Gl965 mobile express chipset family than this is not a contradiction and i will have a gl960 chipset
Driverpage:
Yeah I found that one and a few others but if I look at the newest version of the bios update, it states there 1.13 and mine says it is allready 1.15 so i must have a different bios.
@OutCTRL Well uhm.... Intell Processor ID Utility!!
So tell me what I am misunderstandig here please...Last edited by a moderator: May 8, 2015 -
Ok, forget software. I'll make it clear for you.
The T1400 is a Dual-Core Celeron @1.73GHz; 533MHz FSB; 512kb L2 Cache.
The AS4315 has only one motherboard available by Acer which uses only the GL960 chipset.
That motherboard does support Multi-processors, well dual-cores to be precise, as you can upgrade to any Socket P Core 2 Duo with a bus speed ranging from 400MHz to 800MHz.
It is not an ES. Your CPU is an OEM part. Software is not updated at the same rate at which CPUs are released by Intel.
The fact that your CPU supports EIST is unknown. The new T1500 and T1600 support EIST. You can install RMClock and see if your CPU supports EIST. If it does, you can undervolt your CPU. -
Thanks Andy,
My CPU is not found in there database. I do not understand Where i can find info on EIST.
I uploaded the rmma txt results. You can understand it better than me.
What about my volvi2 motherboard. What bios can i use?
Thanks againAttached Files:

Download RMClock and check on the CPU Info page if EIST is active or not.
All AS4315 mobos are codenamed Volvi2, and you already have the latest BIOS on your system. v1.15 for some reason is not available to end-users. -
It is indeed not active.
Thanks for all the info, have you any suggestions for
improving performance for this machine.
And have you got any ideas on that monitor display with the weird name?
Thanks -
What about it? I have the same, made by AUO.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AU_Optronics -
can someone answer my last questions please
-
What exactly do you want to know?
-
What inf (or is it ini) file i have to (or you use) for that auo monitor.
Why my processor is not findable on the processor finder of intel. (processorfinder.intel.com) and what drivers i should use?
And as a last question does the GL960 belong to the 965 express chipset family.Attached Files:

And this article confuses me even more:

If you're looking for detailed monitor info, download PC Wizard 2008 > Display > Monitor type.
If you're so bothered about the processor, upgrade it to a Core 2 Duo, which you can actually find in the Processor.finder list. Search -- There is an upgrade video of the Acer 4315 posted here.
EDIT: Your CPU is based upon the 65nm technology, because it is based on the Merom Core.
And the T1400 is recognised by Intel.

Again andy you are great!
Yes i think I will contact intel since i just checked the readme of intel procesor id utility [qoute]Supported Processors
The Intel(R) Processor Identification Utility is designed to operate on computer systems containing an Intel processor found in the following list:
Intel Atom(TM) processor
Intel Core(TM)2 Extreme processor
Intel Core 2 Quad processor

Intel Core 2 Solo processor

Correct me if i am wrong but wasnt the t1400 one of the first dual-core procesors...([edit] for laptops)
And yes I sort of have a monitor issue since it is located in the unknown devices in the device manager.
and where have you found that information (see my screenshot)

Click on that image, it'll take you to the PDF.
I don't know about the monitor thing. The handful of laptops I've owned, all have had PnP monitors, and needed no drivers.
Download PC Wizard 2008 > Display > Check the Monitor Info showed in there, and see if there is a driver for it. -
Thanks again. Downloading now.
Btw, do you know a link to download acer empowering technology for the 4315. I can not seem to find it and the versions i tried until now seem to fail.
Naithan -
If it only where that easy.. I have XP
or can i just install the et for vista? -
You can try. I think it'll work.
-
Nope, doesnt work andy.
Says wrong Operating System.
I think better to start new thread on this.
Thanks for all your help Andy! rep added
