My Acer Aspire 4315's fan does not work after being in sleep mode, I am running Vista SP1 32bit (it was shipped with ubuntu). I have read that some people found that you need to have ePower installed for it to work after sleep, though I am reluctant after how badly the performance of my system was affected after installing it on XP.

What are peoples experiences with ePower for Vista, and/or is there another way to fix the problem.

    Thanks in advance,

    screw Epower managment...

    try installing

    I8KFANGUI

it works on other Acer models and resolves the FAN issue
just install it... it can't "control" the fans.. but it does poll the heat sensors and report the temps back to the APCI and causes the fan to function.

Okay, this got even weirder, I restarted my computer, and the fan wouldn't come back on. I then noticed that the battery hadn't been charging, so I disconnected the battery, and all of a sudden the fan kicked in. After the temps were back to <50C (they were up at 90C), I put the battery in and it is charging again, and the fans continue to work.

i've seen a few posts where bad batterys caused over heating

leave the battery out and see if the FAN works properly for the next few hours... after hibernation/sleep ect.. if it does replace the battery and test the same way but with the battery in...

if the problems resume... then you have a bad battery... cantact ACER and they will send a replacement battery out if the system is less than 6 months old... (maybe 12 months if you ***** enough)

    later,
    bigO
