Hi, I'm thinking of pulling the trigger on a this one, however, is thare anyway to install XP Pro on this? It comes with Vista, but I have a "legacy" NURBS (Rhino 3.0) program that runs much better on XP Pro. Or, is there anyone out there who've had luck dropping Vista for XP on a newer Aspire?

    Thanks!

You should be able to put XP on no probs. Link below has a list of drivers on for XP. (On the links, don't click download, click the mirror listed below).

Also, you will probably have to do one of the following:

Change your sata mode in the bios to from AHCI mode to IDE - or

Slipstream sata drivers into your xp installation disk.

If the drivers don't work you can always search for them on the device manuifacturers website.

    Thanks!
Is there a perceivable performance difference between going the SATA way over the easier IDE method?

If you don't change the sata mode, or install the drivers during installation, XP won't install, it won't recognise the HDD.
