I recently got an aspire 4720Z notebook and decided to hook it up to my tv. I have an 7-pin s-video to composite adapter which came with my video card for my desktop, however I'm not sure if the pins are different or if it even allows for a composite signal. I tried e-mailing the acer support to see if they knew but they placed the blame on my tv after squashing that theory they just came out and said they had no clue![]()
So I'm hoping someone out there knows if you can use a composite signal or not or if the pin read out is different than other video cards. thanks to anyone who can help.

Svideo is Svideo... pin outs are the same for all S-VIDEO cables... now your adapter may be a proprietary connector,
but if it doesn't work,, you could buy a generic S-video to composite converter... (just a little plug) and it should work fine. -
There's 4 pin and 7 pin s video connectors so you need to check.
Here's a link that should help you hook it up.

Thanks for the responses guys. As to my understanding the 7 pin s-video jacks typically supply both a s-video signal and a composite signal without the need of a modulator but rather just an adapter to to hook up the 3 extra pins which I have. I picked up a s-video cable and hooked it up to my tv and it works so I guess it doesn't supply the composite signal.
Aspire 4720Z - S-video will it work with composite adapter?
