My media player, winamp, etc is playing an mp3 but no sound is heard. i've already checked the master volume still nothing happened. I've also tried the help support but none of the suggested solution worked. will anyone help me please? this is a new notebook that i purchased just a week ago.

Drivers? You can't hear sound from the build-in speakers or external ones connected through the headphone jack? Vista/XP/Linux?

have you opened the realtek control panel ?
try that it's in control panel.
then in master volume properties turn wave up full and make sure all is un-muted :D

I'd try reinstalling the drivers. Check for virus also.

I'm not entirely sure if this is what happened to your laptop but I have the 4720z as well and one of my speakers bew within a month of getting it. Maybe they have poorly made speakers?
