purchased a 4810t monday, arrived yesterday, love it, apart from the freezes!

i've had 3 freezes in the space of 24 hours, 1 while doing something in photoshop, 1 while bringing it out of hibernate and 1 running acer updater.

i've searched the forums and read about the freezes but thought it wouldnt happen to mine as its newer.

so my question is what can be done to stop the freezing? i've uninstalled all the bloatware, and uninstalled the intel storage control (i heard that helped) is there anything else I can do?

i really love this thing but if it keeps freezing i'll have to return it, my 6920g never froze in all the 3 years ive had it!

I get freezes for 20 seconds or so a few minutes after i come out of standby on my 5810T, it is just faulty drivers/software , not a hardware fault and i have never had a bsod , I just wish i could find a fix for it.

EDIT : Another Newcastle United fan here :)

it seems to be all the timelines then. i waited a couple of mins each time, but no response, i had to manually switch it off, very annoying!

Mine starts to respond after about 20 seconds or so, you should not have to turn it off , have you done and memory test and a cpu stress test say, wprime ??

Guys I suggest you to Clean install and find & grab the latest drivers from this site.
While you are at it update to at least 1.17 BIOS as well.

    How latest is your latest?
Driver Station is indeed the latest.
Every time some OEM release a new driver it is immediately mirrored there.
    Which version is the BIOS?
As for how to clean install check the older thread still here in Acer subforum

Have you tried to use the recovery partition , you press alt + f10 on bootup , it will return you notebook to the day you bought it, so backup all your data to another drive.

I have been been using drivermax for a few years , you only get two free downloads a day but it will tell you what drivers are out of date.

    GS45 is Intel Chipset.
Harddisk Controller Drivers use Intel Rapid Storage it is supported by GS45 chipset Southbridge Controller.
Personally I feel it is important to know all the devices in your laptop by hand so you know which drivers are needed.

Make sure you don't interrupt the flashing process.
Make sure AC is connected with battery.
Close ALL Programs make sure no major program that can potentially interrupt the flashing process is running
Then run the exe with Admin Permission.

Well it went ok, let's see if it helps with the freezes! Another thing anyone know if the processer uses a driver? I keep getting a 100% spike, might have something to do with the crashes

well I updated the bios and the drivers, i hadn't had a freeze at all until this morning, coming out of hibernate, I think its because I tryed to do something about 5 secs after it came out of hibernation, but i normally do this on my 6920g :(

Hmm, my 5810T has stopped freezing when i come out of sleep mode , it`s been over a day and i have put my notebook to sleep many times.

The only things i have done was use drivermax to update my usb drivers , and then downloaded the latest intel chipset drivers , but the only thing i saw it update was the sata hdd controller though it is still dated 04/06/2009

So i am not sure what fixed it, but fixed it is :)

How do I do the drivermax thing? Can I update manually when it tells me what to update? I've never had a prob coming out of sleep, just hibernate

Drivermax , you have to register and you are only allowed to update 2 driver a day for free, the only one i did was the usb

    Great!
I always knew driver issues were fixable.
    Just remember:
Know your devices and know what drivers they need.
I think you don't really need drivermax you just need to understand your laptop better.

I would suggest a clean install of the OS first.
For drivers for Acer Aspire 4810
    You need
1)Intel Chipset Driver (any latest from driver station)
2)Intel Rapid Storage Driver (any latest from driver station)
3)Realtek Audio Driver (any latest from driver station)
Graphics hybrid drivers if you have discrete graphics (This you have to check laptopvideo2go for any compatible hybrid drivers for both Intel and ATi Graphics
4)Synaptics Touchpad(any latest from driver station)
5)Launchmanager from Acer Download (Because there are unique driver customisation)
6)Wireless drivers (atheros or Intel)(any latest from driver station)
7)Acer Smart Power Manager from Acer Download (Because there are unique driver customisation)
8)WebCam driver (latest from driver station)
9)Card Reader & Bluetooth (latest from driver station)
I think this will be all.
Note that many devices uses all in 1 generic drivers( so it is easy to identify which driver you need)

i've wiped it back to factory settings and installed all drivers i possibly can, and see what its like for a few days, if it freezes again its going back!

No I mean you can leave the recovery partition intact while formating the System Disk Partition.
C:\ refers to the second partition on the harddisk not the harddisk device.
