I was wondering if anyone here owns an Aspire 5002WLMi and has problems using virtual cd software.

Apparently my Aspire doesn't like cd virtualization programs such as Daemon Tools, Alcohol 120, VMWare (mount image). and whenever I try to mount an image in any program I get a BSOD in cdfs.sys. Even when I inser ta cd/dvd I randomly get a BSOD in cdfs.sys

I was wondering if anyone else had that problem or something similar.

I know updating drivers are known culprits for BSOD but I nwver had any trouble with Daemon Tools or anything before. Maybe your cdfs.sys file is corrupt and you might want to re-install your system for a shot. BSOD oftens happens when your Kernal file in your system is corrupt.

    I hope I helped, Daniel

    1. fully uninstall all the virtualisation programs that you now have on your system
    2. uninstall BlindWrite (if you have it)
    3. try to re-install only ONE virtualization program and see what happens

I uninstalled every single virtualization program I had, I reformatted Windows countless times, did Acer restore, did clean install, Used factory default drivers, used updated drivers, used drivers that weren't given by Acer.

I did every possible combination and I still have this problem. Its really become a big issue.

some times when companies have oem copies of windows, they change the code to talor make it for the system you are buying.

this is a very unsually problems of Acer, toshiba is the one that usually has these kind of problems.

if you can find a fresh xp cd(not the ones that cam with the computer) try to install it. and see, if it works great! if not try calling the developers of the software that you are useing as well as micrsoft, they might know.

I also tried a fresh install of XP, same problem.

My laptop is in the repair depot and Acer tells me they are replacing the motherboard. I wonder if that would solve the problem.

Since its more of a driver issue I doubt that would fix it.

I really don't know what to say. I have an Aspire 3023 and Daemon Tools runs perfectly on the 'default' install of Acer's WinXP Home.
