I've searched the posts and so far have come up with the parts list pdf for this Acer. That won't help me figure out how to remove and repair or replace the touchpad. The left button has lost its "click" - of course my Acer is 60 days out of warranty![]()
To avoid unscrewing too many things to get access and remove the top cover to replace the touchpad I'd like some help. A link to instructions would be a good start. Best yet would be a source for replacement parts at reasonable prices.
In general I'm happy with this Acer and have recommended similar models to friends and associates. Not because they're GREAT notebooks ... but because they offer an excellent price point for moderate demand users.
I'm new to this forum and trust my request is reasonable. Help is always appreciated.

Well I don't think you should be trying to replace the touch pad. Surely you should try replacing the drivers for touchpad first? If you go to Acer website you will find list of driver updates for your model. Find the one for touch pad then download. If that doesn't quite fix the problem go to synaptics and download touchpad driver there. But make sure it is the correct one for you model and windows operating system, otherwise it could harm your laptop! If in doubt don't download from synaptics, as the acer download should be sufficient.
I had some 'mouse' problems when I first got my laptop, but I downloaded correct drivers and now it works just fine. I think maybe your problem is a software problem not a hardware problem.
Another solution could be to go into your mouse settings on your laptop and try adjusting them, they may have been 'reset' in general use by your laptop having a funny moment. There are various ways in which you can adjust your mouse settings according to how you wish your mouse and mouse click buttons to function.
Good luck!
If you have any further problems, repost and I'm sure someone here will be able to help. You could also try posting in the software/hardware issues section. -
Thanks for your reply but my point was missed ... the left touchpad button doesn't "click" when pressed. I can use the left button to activate the curser so it is functional but clearly is somewhat broken. It is a 'mechanical' problem not a s/w problem. I am looking for clear instructions on how to remove and replace the touchpad.
Thanks again! -

You can always email Acer for help. You may be out of warranty which means no repair service, but I'd think they'll still answer support questions.
