    Hi,

I've just ordered an Aspire 5024.

I am from Romania, and here I found that 5024 has Turion ML34 1.8 GHz (just like in the reviews) but the graphics x600, and not x700.. any idea why?

I asked for 1 GHz memory, and I've been told that couldn't install the DDR 400, only DDR 333.. is that true, or there's something wrong here ?

and I've been told it has firewire, and on one review I read at "cons" - no firewire..

    thanks for your help

Acer most likely changes configurations based on where it is being sold. Allthough I have never heard of a 5024 with a x600 that might be how they are sold in Romania.

I can't completely answer your question about the memory types... I think someone did get DDR 400 running in a 5024, but "officially" DDR 400 is not supported.

"and I've been told it has firewire, and on one review I read at "cons" - no firewire.."
My 5024 has firewire, but again, configurations vary. I'd be surprised if yours didn't come with it though...

i have no idea why it says it has an x600,
but my memory runs at 333 as well so i think its what they all have.

Yes - they all use DDR333 memory (PC2700). I would return the notebook if it has an X600 - the 5024 has an X700. There's a huge difference in graphical performance between the two.

Did the store say it would come with an X700?

First, tanks for your answers. So with the memory they were right, probably..

About the x600.. they did tell, unfortunatelly, it would be x600.. :( It says on their web-page as well... I did ask, could I get one with x700, even if I pay for it, they said that's the configuration!?? :( I've read everywhere else (not Romania) that it has x700..

But now I guess I can't do much about it, just hope some miracle, that they had wrong information (?), and it'll come with x700.

I'll get it today, latest tomorow, and I'll post the configuration (not that it would be important to you, but maybe you're curious :) )

That is weird that the same model is sold with different video cards. Yes, be sure to post your configuration when you get it. Maybe it was just a typo, you never know!
